School Entrance This is the main entrance to the school. The windows of the administration block look out over an enclosed space where children can wait safely to be collected.
The administration corridor looks out upon the courtyard space. The mosaic flower pots you see on the window sill were made by Fifth class in 2004 with the help of a team of parents.

Click here to see images of the Sensory Garden The courtyard contains a fountain made by the Graduation class of 2002. It provides a sheltered outdoor space where classes can be held in fine weather. Click on the fountain to see updated images of the Sensory Garden.

These paper cranes hang in the entrance lobby. They are the work of Sixth class in 2005.

The giant from Jack and the Beanstalk In 2005, Second class put on a production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" for the other children in the school and for their parents. Both the Giant and the Beanstalk used in the play can be seen in the entrance lobby.
The PE hall is equipped with a sprung maple floor and is lined for a variety of games. The days of bussing children to the GAA club for PE are a distant memory!

Courtyard This picture of the Courtyard dates from August 2011. If you compare it with the pictures from a couple of years ago, you can see how it has developed.
This pergola is the work of Sixth class in 2004, supervised by a member of our parent body, Breda Foley. It marks the entrance to the playground extension, which will be developed when funds permit.

The Computer Room Our computer room has been equipped through a combination of computers donated by Intel and computers purchased as a result of fundraising. The terminals are connected to the school network and link back to class computers in the classrooms.
This is the pitch at the rear of the school which was seeded during the summer of 2005. We have been using it for sports activities since the end of spring 2006.

Senior Infant Classroom Den A feature of each classroom in the NKETS is the den. This idea was borrowed from a school in Italy and provides a separate space in each room which can be put to a variety of uses.
This is a view of the gardens attached to each classroom in the school. They provide planting opportunities for the children and classes can be held "al fresco" in fine weather.

Garden in bloom This garden was created by the children and the special education teachers.
Our school includes two Outreach classes for children with Autism. the picture opposite is of one of the classrooms. The rooms are specially designed with acoustic ceilings and underfloor heating to cater for children with sensory issues. The individual work stations allow children to concentrate on their tasks free from distraction.

Occupational Therapy Room On the left is a photo of the Occupational Therapy Room which is a feature of the Outreach clases. It is fully equipped to allow each child to follow any programme that may be recommended for them.
This is the Sensory Room where a variety of sounds, textures and coloured lights can be combined to provide a wide range of sensory experiences.
